Title: The Power of Waiting on God

Text:

Isaiah 40:28-31 (ESV)
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Observation:

One of the amazing things about this passage is the revelation that youth is not the prerequisite for strength. Rather, it is those that rely upon the Lord who have real strength.

Whatever your weakness may be, you can look to the Lord; wait patiently for Him, and He will give you the strength you need.

You may be weak like grass; wait for the Lord.

Isaiah 40:6-8 (ESV)
6 A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the LORD blows on it; surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

You may be weak like sheep; wait for the Lord.

Isaiah 40:11 (ESV)
11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

You can even be as weak as worm; wait for the Lord.

Isaiah 41:14 (ESV)
14 Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I am the one who helps you, declares the LORD; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Here is the goodnews; look to the Lord, and this is what He is able, and will do for you.

Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, I am so thankful that You are God, and that there is nothing too difficult for you.

Father God, I am so grateful that You exchange our weakness for your strength when we place our trust in you, and wait on you. Father, I'm learning to lean hard on you; help us to lean on you more because we need the strength that only you can give us. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
