Title: The Power to Do Good When Others are Doing Bad

Text:

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Observation:

One of the character traits that identify followers of Jesus is their perseverance. Jesus told us to expect trouble in this world. Don’t expect the world to treat you better than they treated Jesus. He was perfect, and we are not.

Revelation 14:12 (ESV)
12 Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

We are to be faithful in the good times and the hard times; this is the world, and not heaven. We are just pilgrims down here.

The text in Galatians reminds us to not grow weary of doing good deeds. We should not allow the bad actors in this world to strip us of our faithfulness to the Lord, and to His work in this world. God is able to complete what He started in you.

Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

This is an encouragement for us to keep our eyes on the prize because this is the promise: “in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”. If you are willing go on; God is willing and able to give you the strength to endure, and finish the race.

Jeremiah 31:25 (ESV)
25 For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”

Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Hebrews 12:3 (ESV)
3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

Let us decide to never give up doing what is good in God’s eyes. And, do it for the glory of our great and gracious God.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I pray that You would raise up an army of the faithful who will not grow weary of doing good, and will reap the harvest in due season. O, for faith to trust and obey. Amen.

“When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.”
