Title: What Have You Exchanged for God's Way?
Text:
Isaiah 55:7 (ESV)
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Observation:
Today's text prompts me to ask of myself a very penetrating question; "What Have You Exchanged for God's Way?"
What would I have to give up to return to God, and to do things His way rather than my way? There is a difference in the way I see things and the way God sees things.
Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV)
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The question of the day is this, "Am I willing to forsake my way for God's way?" Anything that we find in our life that we have exchanged for God's way has become an idol that we worship in the place of God. Is my way really better than God's way?
Isaiah 1:16-18 (ESV)
16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
17 learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.
18 "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I am so thankful that You are a loving and compassionate Father, and that Your greatest desire is to have a right relationship with Your people. Father, I know that You are watching and waiting for Your wayward children to come home.
Father God, as we examine our hearts today help us to be willing to give up anything that You find in us that is not pleasing in Your eyes.
Father God, convict our hearts until we are willing for You to make us to be willing to exchange our will and way for Your will and way. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
"Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling—
Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching—
Watching for you and for me!"
