Title: What is Missing in the Home?
Text:
Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Observation:
I must have been living under a rock; I don't know if I remember ever hearing about "Parents Day". A recent article about it prompted me to consider today's topic. However, this topic should not need a declaration of congress or the signature of a President for us to discuss. Our children are too important for us not to.
Life is too short to learn every life lesson through personal experience. Learning through the School of Experience can be hard and expensive. It requires that you pay the price before you learn the lesson. The lessons about God's way for children must begin in the home. This is the heart of the matter, and the need of our day.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (ESV)
6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Our communities are in trouble because our homes are in trouble; they are missing something, they don't have God at the center. We need God in our homes; this is the best way for children to know the Lord, and to follow in His way.
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I pray that parents who know the Lord will make the job of guiding their children as their primary goal. Father God, instill in parents that no one can do for their children what they can by teaching and by example. Father God, come into our homes one at a time, and begin in my home. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
