Title: What Do You Say to Yourself for Encouragement?
Text:
Philemon 1:6 (HCSB)
6 ⌊I pray⌋ that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for ⌊the glory of⌋ Christ.
Observation:
Do you realize the power of the words that you say to yourself? Notice what Paul prayed for Philemon.
This thought prompted me to make a list of some of the good things that are in the life of every child of God, and I am so glad these, and many other good things are in my life.
- God loves me.
- I love God.
- I love my family.
- My family loves me.
- I love my friends.
- My friends love me.
- I love God's Word.
- I enjoy praying.
- I love God's people.
- Jesus loves the church.
- I love my church.
- God opens doors for me.
- I'm walking with God.
- God is walking with me.
- I like my life.
- My sin debt is paid in full by the precious blood of Jesus.
- I'm a happy person.
This is not an exhaustive list. I pray that you will make a list, and use it. As the song says, "Sometimes you have to encourage yourself".
What would you add to this list? I would love to hear from you.
Prayer:
Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, I am so grateful that You delight in every one of your daughters and sons who have Christ Jesus living on the inside of them.
Father, help us to learn to delight in ourselves because Christ lives in us. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
