Title: Why Is Faith So Important?

Text:

Mark 11:24 (KJV)

24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:24 (HCSB)

24  Therefore I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for—believe that you have received them, and you will have them.

Observation:

Our focal verse for today reminds us that prayer requires faith. However, the Bible goes even further and says this about faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (HCSB)

6  Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

This passage speaks into my heart about faith and prayer. It informs, and inspires me. I am reminded that prayer is desiring, asking, receiving, and believing.

1 John 5:14-15 (KJV)

14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

The reason we can have confidence when we pray is because of our faith in God; the one to whom we pray. What is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The Amplified Bible says this:

Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)

1  NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Some may say I don't have that much faith. Be encouraged because its not the size of your faith that makes the difference, its the object of your faith that makes the difference.

Luke 1:37 (HCSB)

37  For nothing will be impossible with God."

Prayer:

Father, help us, and strengthen us by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, who is alive in us, to have faith in You because nothing is impossible when You are in it. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

--

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
