Title: Lord, Hear My Prayer

Text:

Psalm 143:1 (HCSB)

1  LORD, hear my prayer. In Your faithfulness listen to my plea, and in Your righteousness answer me.

Observation:

The words of the song, "In the Garden" are ringing in my ears as I meditate on Psalm 143. What a blessing to know that I can take all of my cares to the Lord in prayer.

1 I come to the garden alone,

While the dew is still on the roses;

And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,

The Son of God discloses.

Refrain:

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,

And He tells me I am His own,

And the joy we share as we tarry there,

None other has ever known.

It's so comforting, and encouraging to know that I have a place that I can go to and communicate and connect with the Lord in prayer. I love being in the presence of the Lord.

Notice some of the things that David says in this prayer as He talks to the Lord.

  • You are my God.

Psalm 143:10 (HCSB)

10  Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.

  • I trust in You.

Psalm 143:8 (HCSB)

8  Let me experience Your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in You. Reveal to me the way I should go because I long for You.

  • I am your servant.

Psalm 143:12 (HCSB)

12  and in Your faithful love destroy my enemies. Wipe out all those who attack me, for I am Your servant

  • Teach me to do Your will.

Psalm 143:10 (HCSB)

10  Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.

Prayer:

Father, it's such an honor and privilege to be able to have an audience with You. Father, I sing Your praises using the Word of God.

Psalm 145:1-2 (HCSB)

1 I exalt You, my God the King, and praise Your name forever and ever.

2  I will praise You every day; I will honor Your name forever and ever.

Father, as we draw near to You in prayer, our plea is like David, "Lord, hear my prayer". In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

--

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
