Title: Do You Know the Most Powerful Reason for Being In Church?
Text:
Philippians 1:1-2 (HCSB)
1 Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus: To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons.
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Observation:
I have been thinking about writing devotionally on Philippians for quite a while, and it was sealed on the weekend when I was taking an early morning walk.
I will be walking through Philippines, and walking through life, and I will be writing about what the Lord is saying to me through His Word.
The Word that speaks into my heart today is this, "To all the saints in Christ Jesus".
Are you in Christ Jesus? You don't have to be in Philippi to be in Christ Jesus. However, wherever you are you should be associated and connected with those who are in Christ Jesus.
We need the church. Jesus loved the church, and gave Himself up for the church. What Jesus lifts up, we should not put down. Instead of being a critic of the church, why not be a model of the church.
Hebrews 3:13 (HCSB)
13 But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception.
There are hungry and thirsty people all around us. Why not be the church, and feed others with the love of God, and the truth of the Word of God.
Among the blessing that you will receive by being in Christ, and in His church are these two twin towers of blessings.
'Philippians 1:2 (AMP)
2 Grace (favor and blessing) to you and [heart] peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
Prayer:
Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, I am so grateful for the love that You have for the church. Father, kindle a flame of sacrificial love in our hearts for the church, and those outside the church. Father, thank You for giving us grace and peace. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
