Title: The Steps of a Righteous Person

Text:

Psalm 37:23 (HCSB)
23 A man's steps are established by the LORD, and He takes pleasure in his way.

Observation:

The one word that the LORD has placed on my heart to write about today is the word "steps".

Today I write with the steps of a righteous man on my mind. We know that the only way anybody can claim to be righteous is through the price that Jesus paid when He shed His precious and royal blood at Calvary.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (HCSB)
21 He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

When I did a search for scriptures on the word steps I liked the one by David in Psalms 37:23 so I chose it for the text.

However, my eyes and my heart saw two other verses, and these were written by David's son Solomon; the writer of these verses from Proverbs.

Proverbs 16:9 (HCSB)
9 A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD determines his steps.

Proverbs 20:24 (HCSB)
24 A man's steps are determined by the LORD, so how can anyone understand his own way?

The lyrics of one of my favorite songs comes to mind, "I can't even walk unless you are holding my hand".

Finally, the Lord put this word on my heart.

Jeremiah 10:23 (HCSB)
23 I know, LORD, that a man's way of life is not his own; no one who walks determines his own steps.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful that my life is in Your hands; there is no place I would rather be. Lord, I have already had a wonderful time in Your presence this morning glowing in the presence of a single hour spent before You in secret prayer. Surely, you are directing my steps.

Now, I get to pray publicly and tell the world that Jesus is the answer for the deepest needs of their heart, and that You are a promise keeping God. If you belong to Him, listen to Him, and follow Him; He will direct your steps.

Father God, help us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. God has spoken, and let the Church say, Amen.

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
