Title: How Confident Are You in Today's World?
Text:
2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (ESV)
3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command.
5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
Observation:
A friend shared verse three of the above text with me last week. Today, I want to meditate on that verse, and see what it is speaking into my heart.
The choice word for today is establish. Just before coming to my computer this morning the Lord spoke this into my spirit; it was about the key word for today.
He spoke to me in a scripture and in the lyrics of a song. I share them with you now.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (ESV)
7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.
8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."
Jesus is my Savior, I shall not be moved;
In His love and favor, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.
▪ Chorus
▪ I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
▪ I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
▪ Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
▪ Lord, I shall not be moved.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear I am so thankful for Your unfailing love and care You have for Your children. O, what confidence we have knowing that there is a God in heaven who cares about us; and who will strengthen us to be able to overcome anything we may face in this world.
Father God, I am standing on the promises of Your Word, and living in the warmth of Your love. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
