Title: Where is the Best Place for a Child of God to Be?
Text:
Isaiah 6:8 (HCSB)
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.
Observation:
The best preparation for being a servant of God is to give your life totally to God. When you surrender your all to God, He is able to do all that He wills through you. It's a miracle how God uses ordinary people to do His work.
Here is an example from the Bible:
Acts 3:6 (HCSB)
6 But Peter said, "I don't have silver or gold, but what I have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!"
Acts 4:8-10 (HCSB)
8 Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders:
9 If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man—by what means he was healed—
10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead—by Him this man is standing here before you healthy.
Here is an example from the 19th century:
Dwight Moody had a conversation with Henry Varley. This is the quote that greatly influenced him, "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to him". Moody said, "By God's help, I am to be that man".
The story of Mr. Moody is amazing. His formal education ended in the fifth grade. He went from being a shoe store clerk to planting a church in Chicago. That church today is The Moody Church. This is what God can do when you surrender your life to Him.
The bottom line is this; go where God sends you, bloom where God plants you. The fruitful life is the one where you listen for God's call, and serve with the wisdom and strength that God provides to those He calls.
Are you willing to say, "Here am I, Lord send me?"
Prayer:
Father God, Sovereign Lord, I praise and thank You that You are still in the business of calling and sending Your people into the world on mission to be your hands and feet to build the kingdom of God. In the name that is above every name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
John 20:21 (HCSB)
21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
Lord grow in me! You are the seed,
Of God-man life; You're all I need.
In all my heart, I give You ground.
Lord, may Your life in me abound!

Note: This devotional was written on November 13, 2013. One of my friends responded to the original email yesterday; February 13, 2015, and I found it to be so amazing. The message was such a blessing in my life, and right on target for my one word goal for 2015; the word BE.
Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
