Title: What Are the Ingredients of a Good Life?
Text:
Psalm 90:4 (ESV)
For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.
Observation:
In the light of eternity no matter how long we live down here, our time on earth is brief. Notice what the Psalmist says on this matter.
Psalm 39:5 (ESV)
Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah
Whether I live a brief time or a long time; I make it my aim to live wisely and to live joyfully all the days of my life. These verses inform me about the ingredients of a good life; a godly life.
Psalm 90:12 (ESV)
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:14-15 (ESV)
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.
I seek to make the first part of this verse my attitude every day; every breath.
Psalm 31:15 (ESV)
My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!
Prayer:
Father God, I am so glad that my life is in Your hands, and I rest in the blessed assurance that I am also in the hands of Jesus.
Father, I am encouraged by what the hymn writer said about Jesus, "For I know whatever befall me, Jesus doeth all things well".
Father, the desire and prayer of my heart is that You will give me whatever it takes to live wisely and joyfully one day at a time walking with and leaning on Jesus all the days of my life. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
My Soul Sings:
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
