Title: The 4 Things We Need More of in Our Daily Walk

Text:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (ESV)
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Observation:

We started this series on Tuesday asking this question, "What Do You Need to Do More of to Please God?

I came across a quote recently by Leo Babauta that fits in well as we conclude this series.

"At the end of the day, the questions we ask of ourselves determine the type of people that we will become."

Think about what Paul said in this verse.

1 Thessalonians 4:1 (ESV)
Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more.

Paul admonished and encouraged the recipients of his letter to continue to do what they were already doing, but to do it more and more. He urged them to walk and to please God more and more in the areas of holiness, love, quietness, and hope.

These are the very things he commended them earlier in his letter to them that they were already doing.

1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 (ESV)
2 We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, 3 remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Father God, Our dear Father, I am so glad for the enduring truth of the Word of God. Father, I am so thankful that what was true then is still true today. Father, I pray that You will find us faithful in the things that are eternal; in faith, hope, and love. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
