Title: Does the Resurrected Jesus Live in You?
Text:
Romans 8:11 (HCSB)
And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then He who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through His Spirit who lives in you.
Colossians 3:1-4 (HCSB)
1 So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. 4 When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Observation:
Paul asked a very thought provoking question in chapter 7.
Romans 7:24 (HCSB)
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body?
Paul was not alone in his description of being a dead man walking around with the appearance of being alive.
Ephesians 2:1-3 (HCSB)
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also.
Paul gives the answer to his provoking question of Romans 7 in Romans 8. It is Jesus, and Jesus alone who can give us life; the only life worth having, and that is eternal life.
John 10:10 (HCSB)
A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
1 John 5:12 (HCSB)
The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn't have the Son of God does not have life.
Is Jesus, the Son of God, fully alive in you?
Galatians 2:19-20 (HCSB)
19 For through the law I have died to the law, so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ 20 and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
I am so glad that Jesus paid in full my sin debt. Can you say, "His grace is sufficient for me". I am so glad that victory is mine because Jesus is alive, and because He lives I can face tomorrow fully alive in Jesus.
Romans 8:37 (HCSB)
No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us.
Prayer:
Father, I pray that the life that You have given me will grow closer to You every day, and reflect more and more the life of Jesus. Father, my plea is for more of Jesus, and less of me. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
More about Jesus; in His Word,
Holding communion with my Lord;
Hearing His voice in every line,
Making each faithful saying mine.
