Title: What Foundation Are You Building Your Life Upon?
Text:
Matthew 7:24 (NLT)
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
Observation:
Today I have wisdom on my mind. Perhaps it is because I started the day reading Proverbs 2. This portion leaped off the page and into my heart.
Proverbs 2:6-9 (NLT)
6 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. 8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. 9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.
There are two types of people in this world; the kind that build people up, and the kind that tear people down.
Proverbs 14:1 (NLT)
A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.
Think about today’s title; it deserves thoughtful consideration. The type of foundation you build your life upon makes all the difference in the world.
Proverbs 14:11 (NLT)
The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the godly will flourish.
Consider what the wisest man who ever lived said to his son in the portion from Proverbs 2:6-9. If you lack wisdom, God will give it to you if you ask Him. How are you doing in listening to and obeying the word of God?
James 1:5 (NLT)
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I come to You on bended knee; the only one I know who can heal broken hearts, and restore the spirit that has been crushed by the folly of this world.
Father God, I ask that You would descend upon us in Holy Spirit power, and replace the folly of this world, with the wisdom of God in these cold hearts of ours. Father, set our hearts on fire with the Word of God and the Spirit of God. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
“Set may soul afire, Lord, for Thy holy Word.
Burn it deep within me, let your voice be heard;
Millions grope in darkness, in this day and hour,
I will be Your witness, fill me with Thy power.”
