Daily Prayer_March 10, 2011

The Word for wisdom:

Proverbs 10:4 (HCSB)
Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring riches.

The Word for inspiration:

Psalm 149:5 (AMP)
Let the saints be joyful in the glory and beauty [which God confers upon them]; let them sing for joy upon their beds.

The Word for encouragement:

Luke 23:44-46 (HCSB)
44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three, 45 because the sun's light failed. The curtain of the sanctuary was split down the middle. 46 And Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into Your hands I entrust My spirit." Saying this, He breathed His last.

My observation:

In our focal passage from Luke we hear one of the final words of Jesus from the cross. In the original language Jesus cried out with a shout of joy one word, "Tetelestal". In life and in death Jesus was always talking to the Father. His Father is our Father, so we can call upon him too.

John 19:30 (HCSB)
When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" Then bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

There was another event that happened that is significant to us as we conclude our focus on prayer this week. It was this, "The curtain of the sanctuary was split down the middle". Now access to God is available to all of God's people. The curtain was a shut door is now an open door.

Are you taking advantage of the door to the Father that Jesus has provided for you through his sacrificial death on the cross?

Ephesians 2:18 (HCSB)
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

Ephesians 3:12 (HCSB)
In Him we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I do rejoice in the glory and the beauty of the gifts that you have conferred upon your people because of what Jesus did for us at Calvary.

Father, I am so blessed by having direct access to you.  What a confidence I have in knowing that I have access to the same resources that Jesus had when he prayed. I pray that I will use this privilege as often as Jesus did.

My song:

I Need Thee Every Hour (Click on link to hear Randy Owen & the Isaacs sing this song):
