Title: Invitation to Come and Listen
Text:
Psalm 66:16-20 (HCSB)
16 Come and listen, all who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for me. 17 I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue. 18 If I had been aware of malice in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. 19 However, God has listened; He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer. 20 May God be praised! He has not turned away my prayer or turned His faithful love from me.
Observation:
This Psalm is an invitation for all of Israel to come and worship the Lord. When the Lord does something for God's people it is worthy of praise by all of God's people.
Psalm 66:1-3 (HCSB)
1 Shout joyfully to God, all the earth! 2 Sing about the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. 3 Say to God, "How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before You because of Your great strength.
David invites God's people to come and listen. When God's answers prayers we should be willing to share with God's people; giving thanks to God in the presence of His people will excite them to praise the Lord. There is power in rejoicing together for answered prayer.
Let's all come, and then go and share what the Lord has done for you; it will be a blessing to all, and will glorify God.
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I praise and thank You for Your gracious invitation to come into Your presence and make our request known to You. Lord, thank You for hearing and answering the prayers of Your people. O, the joy of sharing the blessings of answered prayer with God's people. Praise the Lord, Amen.
Psalm 95:6 (HCSB)
6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
--
Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
