Title: What Questions Are You Asking, and Who Are You Asking?
Text:
Philippians 4:6-7 (HCSB)
6 Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Observation:
These are some of the common questions we ask:
Why me? Why now? How long?
We want answers so we ask question like the above or similar questions. However, if we changed our questions, and ask better questions, we will get better answers.
It is amazing what a shift in our focus can do when we learn to ask better questions. Here are some questions that will result in better answers; and results.
What does God want to teach me in this trial I'm going through?
How can I praise God through this pain that I am experiencing?
How can I be a blessing to someone who is hurting?
What a difference a shift in focus can accomplish; there is power when we look up from our troubles to the Lord, and when we look outward to the needs of others. Why not look to the Helper, and then be a helper to someone today? In this way you will be blessed, and be a blessing.
I'm just a beggar telling another beggar where to find bread; I offer you my friend the bread of life; I offer you Jesus. If you ask Him, He will surely help you. It is important to ask the right questions, and to ask the right person.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I am so thankful that there is a God in heaven who loves me supremely; Lord, you know my needs, and you care. Father, I look to You as my source; You alone can supply all my needs. Lord, I ask You to help me, and to help me to be a blessing to others. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
I must tell Jesus all of my trials;
I cannot bear these burdens alone;
In my distress He kindly will help me;
He ever loves and cares for His own.
