Title: Two Incredible Promises That Are for Every Believer
Text:
2 Peter 1:4 (HCSB)
4 By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.
Observation:
I am so glad that you can stand on the promises of God. Today I will look at two of those promises to encourage myself, and hopefully encourage each of you who are reading the Word, and my reflections on the Word of God.
2 Peter 1:2-3 (HCSB)
2 May grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3 His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.
When we trusted in Christ, and received the gift of salvation, God gave us the grace gift of all that we need for eternal life and godly living. Why did He do this? He did it because of His character; He did it by His own glory and goodness. There are many promises made by man that he has no power to keep, but it is not so with God; He has the power to keep every promise He makes.
Are you appropriating the power of God that He makes available to all of His believing people? I would rather rely on God's power than on my power any day. You can trust in and stand on the promises of God; and of Christ your Savior. God can do what no other power can do. My prayer is, "O for grace to trust Him more".
Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I praise and thank You that it was because of Your glory and goodness that I am the recipient of eternal life and the power to live a godly life in Christ Jesus. Father, I pray that by the same divine power that saved me; that same power will enable me to fulfill the purpose for which I was born twice. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
John 5:24 (HCSB)
24 "I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.
--
Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
