Title: The Words of a Tested Heart

Text:

Job 19:25-27 (ESV)
25
For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
26
And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God,
27 whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!

Observation:

There is nothing that gives more comfort when you are experiencing trials and trouble than having faith in God, and in knowing God for yourself. When we face adversity, it is important to remember that God is bigger than any giant we will ever face.

Job was able to say these words with faith and assurance: "For I know that my Redeemer lives". Job also had the ability to look at life from the viewpoint of eternity. When you can say this you can have peace in the midst of the storms of life: "And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God".

Listen to these words of comfort from the mouth of Jesus to his follower and friend Martha concerning the death of Lazarus.

John 11:25-26 (ESV)
25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

This is food for thought during this post Easter weekend.

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, my heart is gladdened and comforted when I read the words of Job and Jesus.

Father God, I pray that my faith when tried and tested will show that it is genuine. Father, enlarge my knowledge of your greatness and your goodness. Father, as I grow in knowledge, may I also grow in my praise and thanksgiving for you, and for what you do. Father, you are great, and your works are wondrous to behold. I'm looking for a miracle; a giant killer. In Jesus name, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
