Title: Examine Your Attitude
Text:
Philippians 2:5-11 (NLT)
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Observation:
Today's reading gives us a wonderful example of the attitude of Jesus. The Apostle Paul encourages the believers in the church at Philippi to have the same attitude as Jesus. This is not easy, but it is an exemplary attitude to emulate. You can't have a wrong attitude and have a right relationship with God or man.
Here are two attitudes that Paul takes note of; the servant attitude, and the self-centered attitude. Do you have the attitude of Philippians 1:21 or 2:21?
Philippians 1:21 (ESV)
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 2:21 (ESV)
21 For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived to serve others; we need to be others centered also. We need to have the heart of a servant; thereby following in the steps of Jesus, the Apostle Paul, and the saints of the ages.
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I pray that by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, I will be able to have the heart of a servant. Father, I pray my legacy will be, "My living has not been in vain". Father, I pray this not just for me, but also for my family and my friends. In Jesus name, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
