When God Speaks to Us Personally

Text:

Mark 7:32-35 (ESV)

32  And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him.

33  And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue.

34  And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha," that is, "Be opened."

35  And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.

Observation:

It's nice to have friends who love you and care for you; especially in your time of desperate need.  The man in our focal passage was very needy, and he was fortunate to have friends who cared enough about him to bring him to Jesus.

Notice this significant point about this story. Jesus cared about this man personally.

Mark 7:33 (ESV)

33  And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue.

What Jesus did for this man he will do for your friends, and for you. Why not cast all of your cares upon Jesus? The words of the hymn writer speaks into my heart.

"Are we weak and heavy-laden,

  Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge—

  Take it to the Lord in prayer;

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

  Take it to the Lord in prayer;

In His arms He'll take and shield thee,

  Thou wilt find a solace there."

What can you say about the compassion of Jesus for others, and the love that He has for you personally?

Mark 7:37 (ESV)

37  And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."

If God has ever done something for you personally, why don't You give Him the praise, and the thanks that only He deserves.

Prayer:

Father God, we exalt Your name. Father, you are a good Father, and greatly to be praised.

Father, thank You for Your compassionate heart, and the love, grace, and mercy that You have for Your needy people. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
