Text:
Psalm 67:1-2 (ESV)
1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.
Observation:
The reading of today's Psalm reminded me of one of the greatest needs of all people.
The first two verses of this Psalms reveals the heart of the missionary, and the needs of the people of the world; the people who have not heard the Good News of the gospel of Christ.
The darkness we face in the world can only be illuminated by light. This is what the Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the church at Corinth.
2 Corinthians 4:3-6 (NLT)
3 If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing.
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
5 You see, we don't go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who said, "Let there be light in the darkness," has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
My soul sings:
"There's a call comes ringing o'er the restless wave, "Send the light! Send the light.
There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save,
Send the light!
Send the light!"
Prayer:
Father God, I pray that the light of Your presence would shine on everyone who needs to hear the Good News of the gospel of Christ, and open their eyes that have been blinded by the enemy of their soul. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
