Title: A Message for Today's World

Text:

Philippians 1:27-30 (HCSB)

27  Just one thing: Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, working side by side for the faith ⌊that comes from⌋ the gospel,

28  not being frightened in any way by your opponents. This is a sign of destruction for them, but of your deliverance—and this is from God.

29  For it has been given to you on Christ's behalf not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him,

30  having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.

Observation:

This passage is one that begs for our full attention. In particular, verse twenty-seven is one that I have meditated on, and will post in a prominent place in my prayer closet.

All of us who belong to Jesus should conduct our life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

It is very important in every age that the people God remember this essential truth. God's people should unite in Christ, and oppose the enemy of our soul, and not one another. The Apostle not only taught this, but he lived it.

Acts 23:1 (HCSB)

1  Paul looked intently at the Sanhedrin and said, "Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience until this day."

Here is an example of how Paul lived out his life in Christ.

Philippians 1:14-17 (HCSB)

14  Most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my imprisonment and dare even more to speak the message fearlessly.

15  To be sure, some preach Christ out of envy and strife, but others out of good will.

16  These do so out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel;

17  the others proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely, seeking to cause me anxiety in my imprisonment.

My brothers and sisters in Christ, Paul knew how to get along with people that were different, and so should we.

Prayer:

Father, I exalt and extol Your name. Father, I thank You for giving Your people the power to unite against our enemies, and to unite with one another in the proclamation of the gospel of Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

--

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
