Title: Do You Have the Need for Love?

Text:

Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

38  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,

39  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Observation:

Do you believe in God? Do you believe that God is love? On Wednesday night I reached into a box as I was leaving the auditorium of the church and selected this prayer request.

"I pray that my family would come together in Love."

I made a commitment during the service that night to pray for the request I selected from the box for 7 days. The request is from an anonymous person to me, but not to God.

I find great comfort in the words of the Apostle Paul to the believers at the church at Rome. He said, "Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord". Now, that is a promise I can build my life, my hopes, and my future upon.

God is love, and His love is so amazing. Only He is able to love without the need to be loved in return. Notice how the Apostle Paul describes God's love to the church at Ephesus.

Ephesians 3:17-19 (ESV)

17  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

18  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,

19  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

I'm so glad that God's love is available to the person who wrote the request that I picked out of the box Wednesday night. This verse informs and encourages me; I pray it will do the same for you.

Ephesians 2:4 (ESV)

4  But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

O how I love these two words, "But God". The reason is because of the one word that comes after that, which is mercy; His favor in not giving us what we deserve. Here is one more verse for your encouragement.

Romans 2:4 (ESV)

4  Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

It's only one step of faith for you to repent, and run into the open arms of the God who loves you with an everlasting love. Let's pray that all of our families would come together in love.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, I am so thankful for Your love for the unlovely. Father, I am so glad that there is no barrier between the vilest sinner and Your love that You cannot overcome.

Father, give the hurting and the hopeless among us the courage to take that one step of faith that it takes to receive the love of God. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
