Title: The Value of a Personal Relationship with the Lord
Text:
1 Corinthians 1:21 (ESV)
21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.
1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (ESV)
22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Observation:
The words of the text that leaped off the page into my heart this morning are these, "Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God".
The words of a hymn come to mind when I think about the value of having a personal relationship with my Savior.
"What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
Since Jesus came into my heart!"
It is comforting to know that I have the abiding presence of Jesus in my life every hour of every day; there is never a moment that He is not present. This is His loving invitation to His children.
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Please remember this when you are faced with problems and difficulties in your life you are never alone; help is just a prayer away; have a little talk with Jesus.
"O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!"
Prayer:
Father God, I thank You for the encouragement this Word is to me today, and I pray that it will be a blessing in the lives of each person that reads it, and heeds it.
Father God, I don't know the needs of every reader, but I know that You do, and I ask You to have mercy upon them, and give them sufficient grace for all there pressing needs. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
