Title: Rescued: By the Lamb

Text:

Exodus 12:4 (NLT)
4 If a family is too small to eat a whole animal, let them share with another family in the neighborhood. Divide the animal according to the size of each family and how much they can eat.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (ESV)
18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Observation:

The inspiration for today's devotional is the sermon I heard yesterday. The keyword takeaway was shared; The Lamb was shared.

I got the confirmation about this theme yesterday when I had a phone conversation with a friend from Anchorage; we call each other on Sunday afternoon. When I called him yesterday he had gone to the Airport to ship boxes of food and supplies to people in rural Alaska that his members had boxed after church.

How are we about sharing the gospel? This week known as "Holy Week" is a good time to remember the importance of sharing the Word of God, and why we share it. The pastor shared these three points concerning our opportunities to share the gospel of Christ.

  1. Pray

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (ESV)
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

2. Invite

Romans 10:13-14 (NLT)
13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved."
14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

3. Participate

Matthew 5:15-16 (ESV)
15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Think about this; Jesus is too big for just our little family; we must share Him with the whole world.

John 3:16 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Prayer:

Father God, I pray that You would instill in the hearts of Your people a burning desire to share the gospel of Christ with others. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Song:

"Rescue the perishing,

  Care for the dying,

Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;

  Weep o'er the erring one,

  Lift up the fallen,

Tell them of Jesus the mighty to save."

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
