The Word of God for wisdom:
Proverbs 25:17 (HCSB)
17 Seldom set foot in your neighbor's house; otherwise, he'll get sick of you and hate you.
The Word of God for inspiration:
Psalm 86:3 (HCSB)
3 Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to You all day long.
The Word of God for encouragement:
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 (HCSB)
13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
14 He called you to this through our gospel, so that you might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, either by our message or by our letter.
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,
17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.
My observation:
It is so amazing in one sense, and so comforting in another sense, to read of the unfathomable love that God has for the crown of his creation; you and me. Read this verse and take some time to let it sink deep into your mind and soul.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (HCSB)
13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
How great is this? God's work of salvation did not start two thousand years ago on Calvary. God had salvation on his mind before creation. That is mind stretching, huh? Yes, it's a God thing; it's a big thing, and I am so glad it depends upon his work, and not my work.
Many times I have had to confess in so many areas of my walk that "I can't". However, I don't have to, and God never said that I could; he said that he would. Notice that sanctification is God's work.
What is our part? This verse has the answer to that question also; it is belief in the truth. No matter what test or trial you may face in life; stay close to God, and he will carry you through it all. Keep on trusting in the one who saved you, and is sanctifying you by the Holy Spirit of God. He will complete in you what he has started.
Stand firm on the word of God, and upon Jesus Christ, the solid rock; all other ground is sinking sand. In closing, Paul says that it's always a good time and the right to give praise and thanksgiving to God for so great a salvation.
My prayer:
Father, I am so delighted to associate myself with the saints of the ages in giving praise and thanksgiving to you for who you are, and for what you have done. Only eternity future will reveal the greatness of our salvation. Praise the Lord!
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (HCSB)
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,
17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.
