The Word of God for wisdom:
Proverbs 25:16 (HCSB)
16 If you find honey, eat only what you need; otherwise, you'll get sick from it and vomit.
The Word of God for inspiration:
Psalm 85:8 (HCSB)
8 I will listen to what God will say; surely the LORD will declare peace to His people, His godly ones, and not let them go back to foolish ways.
The Word of God for encouragement:
2 Thessalonians 1:2-4 (HCSB)
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We must always thank God for you, brothers. This is right, since your faith is flourishing and the love each one of you has for one another is increasing.
4 Therefore, we ourselves boast about you among God's churches—about your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you endure.
My observation:
In Paul's first letter he commended the church for their faith, love, and hope. This is what he said in that first letter.
1 Thessalonians 1:2-4 (HCSB)
2 We always thank God for all of you, remembering you constantly in our prayers.
3 We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work of faith, labor of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 knowing your election, brothers loved by God.
In this second letter, Paul has reason to commend them for those same virtues, but this time he finds that they have more of what he saw in them the first time he wrote them.
O, that it would be that others would see in you and me that our faith is flourishing, our love for one another increasing, and that our endurance of hope in Jesus steadfast. These believers had staying power in spite of the difficulties of their circumstances.
Therefore, Paul could breakout in praise and thanksgiving whenever he prayed for the people in this amazing young church.
My prayer:
Father God, I say Amen and hallelujah to the praise and prayer of the Apostle Paul. Father, may others see in us what Paul saw in them. In Jesus name, Amen.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (HCSB)
11 And in view of this, we always pray for you that our God will consider you worthy of His calling, and will, by His power, fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith,
12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified by you, and you by Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
