The Word of God for wisdom:
Proverbs 20:15 (NLT)
15 Wise words are more valuable than much gold and many rubies.
The Word of God for inspiration:
Psalm 25:4 (NLT)
4 Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.
Psalm 25:12 (NLT)
12 Who are those who fear the LORD? He will show them the path they should choose.
The Word of God for encouragement:
Romans 15:1-7 (ESV)
1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."
4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
My observation:
The Apostle Paul devoted the entire previous chapter to the treatment of the weak in faith. He continues that discussion in the first seven verses of chapter 15.
We dare not overlook this emphasis because it is as important in today's church as it was for the church at Rome, who was the recipients of this letter.
We, as the church of the first century, have the example of Jesus as our guide. In relating to others, consider how Jesus related to people. This is the attitude we need in the church today.
Romans 15:2 (MSG)
2 Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?"
We have a debt to the weak. We have an example to follow in Jesus. We have the strength that Jesus provides. We can do this if we are willing.
Romans 15:1 (MSG)
1 Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status.
Romans 15:3 (MSG)
3 That's exactly what Jesus did. He didn't make it easy for himself by avoiding people's troubles, but waded right in and helped out. "I took on the troubles of the troubled," is the way Scripture puts it.
My prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I pray that the teaching of the Apostle Paul concerning how the strong should relate to the weak would find a home in my heart. Father God, give me more love and more patience so that I may be found a faithful servant in this area of ministry.
Father God, I thank you for the encouragement in scripture that reminds me that strength is for service, not status. Father, as in all things, I am relying upon your strength for service. In Jesus name, Amen.
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Psalm 130:3-4 (HCSB)
3 Yahweh, if You considered sins, Lord, who could stand?
4 But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be revered.
Psalm 18:6 (HCSB)
6 I called to the LORD in my distress, and I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears.
