My Prayer for Revival in America_July 21, 2012 - Part 2 of 4

Title: What will it take to Have Revival in America?

Text:

2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Observation:

I see in this text a starting point for the healing of America. Humility is the first step on the journey that leads to the promise land of blessing. The next step along that journey, and closely linked to it is prayer. We cannot get to where we want to go unless we pray.

Who is to pray, and where should prayer start? The text tells us who, "If my people who are called by my name".

Where should prayer begin? The bible also tells us the answer to this question.

Matthew 21:13 (HCSB)
13 And He said to them, "It is written, My house will be called a house of prayer. But you are making it a den of thieves!"

It will take unceasing prayer by God's people in God's house, and in our homes, to get us to the place where God can heal our land.

"O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer" - - Joseph M. Scriven

Prayer:

Father God, Sovereign Lord, grant us by your almighty power the grace gift of a burning desire to become people who will not just preach and talk about prayer, but will bow the knee and pray until you heal our land. Amen.

Psalm 18:6 (HCSB)
