Daily Prayer_July 25, 2012

The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 20:3 (NLT)
3 Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 20:1-2 (NLT)
1
In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.
2 May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Romans 10:1 (HCSB)
1
Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation!

Romans 10:6-13 (HCSB)
6
But the righteousness that comes from faith speaks like this: Do not say in your heart, "WHO will go up to heaven?" that is, to bring Christ down
7
or, "Who will go down into the abyss?" that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.
8
On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:
9
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
11
Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,
12
for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him.
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

My observation:

There are so many in our world today seeking righteousness by works, which is humanly impossible to achieve.

God has the perfect plan, and Paul presents that plan to Jews and Gentiles. It is the plan of righteousness by faith in God's only begotten son, Jesus the Messiah sent from God. Salvation is by faith in Jesus, and faith comes by hearing the word of God.

Romans 10:13 (HCSB)
13
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:17 (HCSB)
17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

Hebrews 11:6 (HCSB)
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.

My prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I am grateful that you had a better plan then the plans of man to obtain the righteousness that is acceptable in your eyes. Father, help me to remember that it is about you, and not about me. Amen.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (HCSB)
8
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift—
9
not from works, so that no one can boast.
10 For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.

Psalm 130:3-4 (HCSB)
3 Yahweh, if You considered sins, Lord, who could stand?
4 But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be revered.

Psalm 18:6 (HCSB)
6 I called to the LORD in my distress, and I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry to Him reached His ears.
