Title: The Prescription for Victory

Text:

Ephesians 6:10-15 (ESV)

10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

14  Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

15  and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

Observation:

What will it take to defeat the enemy of our soul? First, we have to recognize the enemy. Our focal passage for today identifies the enemy of our soul.

Ephesians 6:11 (ESV)

11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

In this world we live on a battleground, and our enemy is the devil. There is nothing that we can do in our flesh to contain this enemy. He is too fierce for us, but he is no match for the Lord.

Therefore, the solution for God's people is to put their trust in the one who has delivered them from the penalty of sin.

Romans 3:23-24 (HCSB)

23  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

24  They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

The resources we need to overcome the enemy of our soul is to rely upon the Lord who has already delivered us from the wages of sin, which is death; the eternal separation from God. This God will also keep us safe in this present world until He delivers us from the presence of sin. Until the Lord takes us home, He will deliver us from the power of sin.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (HCSB)

10  Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength.

11  Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil.

Prayer:

Father, I stretch my hand to Thee. There is no one who can deliver us and save us from the enemy of our soul except You.

Father, help us to never forget that the door to your throne room is always open for Your children to seek your face, and the strength that You provide to your beloved.

Ephesians 6:18 (HCSB)

18  Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.

Father, help us to remember that help is just a prayer away. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
