Title: Why Everyone Needs A Small Community of True and Trusted Friends

Text:

Romans 12:15 (ESV)

15  Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.

1 Corinthians 12:26 (ESV)

26  If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Observation:

The task of forming personal relationships is not easy in the twenty-first century in America. I don't know how it is in other countries.

However, it is something that should be a high priority. Living the Christian life was never meant to be something that you did alone; it is done in community.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

24  And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

25  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

There are times is our life when we need the love and support that comes from true and trusted friends.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (ESV)

9  Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.

10  For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

If you are in such a small group community, why not reach out and consider adding someone who is not in a similar community to your community. This is the way we can be the most Christ-like in building the kingdom of God.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

8  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Prayer:

Father, I give praise and thanks that I have a Father in heaven who knows my frame, and remembers that He made me out of dirt. Father, I am so grateful that my Savior and the Lord of my life lives in me; Christ in me the hope of glory. And, I am blessed beyond measure to have the Holy Spirit of God as my tutor, and the abiding presence in my life as I walk in the Spirit.

Father, where we need help is in the horizontal relationships that are key in living, walking, and serving in this problem filled world. Father, we all need to be connected with others of like mind so that we can encourage, and stir up one another.

Father, lead us to those who we can connect our lives to that would assist us in becoming the person that You made us to be. Father, I am so grateful that nothing that I need is beyond the reach of prayer. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (ESV)
4  But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word."

Psalm 65:2 (ESV)
2  O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.
