Title: Who Is Jesus?
Text:
Revelation 1:3-8 (ESV)
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
Observation:
I came to my computer this morning with Jesus on my mind. Then, this scripture was presented to me.
Revelation 22:13 (ESV)
13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
Reading the above verse resulted in me going next to the passage I have selected as the text for today's meditation.
Then, I asked the question, "Who is Jesus?" As I read I came to this verse.
Revelation 1:8 (ESV)
8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
I have a song on my playlist that says why you need to know the Jesus as revealed in God's Word. The song is written and sung by Andrae Crouch.
Chorus:
Jesus is the answer, for the world today,
Above Him there's no other,
Jesus is the way.
Verse One:
If you have some questions
In the corners of your mind,
Traces of discouragement,
The peace you cannot find,
Reflections of your past,
Seem to face you everyday,
But this one thing I do know,
That Jesus is the way.
Prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful for Jesus, and for the revelation that You gave to John so that over 2,000 years later we can know the answer to the question, "Who is Jesus?".
Father God, I thank You that before Jesus finished His earthly ministry He told His disciples, and all who would read His word this about himself. Father God, thank You for Jesus. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
John 14:6 (ESV)
6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
