Title: Who is Your Leader?
Text:
John 10:14-15 (ESV)
14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Observation:
When you choose a leader you want a person who is able, qualified, and faithful to be able to do what he says he will do. Do you know a leader like this? Let me introduce you to my leader.
Psalm 100:3 (ESV)
Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Notice that the Lord is a good shepherd; he knows, he cares, and he is competent to lead us and guide us in our walk through this world. Here is why we need the Lord to lead and guide us.
Isaiah 53:6 (ESV)
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
The words of hymn writer William Bradbury is my prayer.
"Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
much we need thy tender care;
in thy pleasant pastures feed us,
for our use thy folds prepare."
Would you rather put your trust in God or man? As for me I have made my choice, and I will go with God.
Psalm 118:8 (ESV)
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I pray that by the convicting and convincing power of the Holy Spirit that You would draw Your people into a more closer and intimate walk with You. Lord, if we ever needed Your presence, we sure do need it today. In the might name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
My Soul Sings:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
