Title: What Is My Greatest Need?

Text:

Isaiah 30:15 (ESV)
For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." But you were unwilling,

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (ESV)
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Observation:

Do I need more of me or do I need more of God? Think about what the Lord said to Israel, "In quietness and in trust shall be your strength". Lord, I pray that I will be willing to listen to the wisdom that God gave to Israel. I will place my hope in the God who is the Holy One, and who can do anything but fail.

We need to learn to accept the fact that we are weak, and that the strength lies in the power of God. Think about what Paul says in the letter to the church at Corinth. We don't need a surge to win the spiritual battle, we need to surrender to the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Father if we belong to Him.

O, how I pray that you and I would be able to say like Paul:

2 Corinthians 12:10 (AMP)
So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, I thank You for this encouraging word on how to overcome our human weaknesses. Father, open our eyes to see that spiritual power come from surrendering to, and trusting in You. Father God, help us to learn obedience; increase our faith. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
