Title: The Blessing of Being a Child of God

Text:

Psalm 139:1-4 (ESV)
1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

Observation:

The key word in the above passage is the words know or known; notice verse 1, 2, and verse 4. We can come to God because He alone understands us. The Lord knows everything about us.

The best thing that we can do is to open our hearts and lives to Him; trust in and obey Him. We can rest in God's love because He knows us, and loves us.

1 John 4:18 (NLT)
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

The world may misunderstand you, but you have nothing to fear. Instead of fearing the world, have faith in God. Since the Lord knows everything about you, why not draw near to Him. Do what the Psalmist did; embrace and welcome God into your life. God wants to help you; not hurt you.

Psalm 139:23 (NLT)
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I am so glad that the truth expressed  in this Psalm is an eternal truth; it applied to David, and it applied to Moses and Joshua, and it applies to us today.

Joshua 1:5 (ESV)
No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.

Father God, I am so happy to know that the God who knows everything about me, yet, You still love me, and make this promise: "I will not leave you or forsake you". Lord, Your children are so blessed, and we give You the praise and the thanks. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Matthew 4:4 (HCSB)
4 But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Psalm 2:8 (HCSB)
8 Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.
