Title: God Provides the Power You Need

Text: Acts 1:4-8

Observation:

The promise of Jesus to the Apostles of the first century that they would receive power is a promise that we can also receive. The choice word today is power.

Acts 1:8 (HCSB)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

God will give his people the power to carry out our God ordained purpose. You do not have to be an Apostle to have the Spirit of God in your life. Every child of God has access to the power of God for living, and doing God's work.

Romans 8:9 (HCSB)
9 You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

Ephesians 5:18 (HCSB)
18 And don't get drunk with wine, which [leads to] reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit:

Think about this; the power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you to do God's will, and to do God's work. It's not outside of you, it is within you.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful that you will never put me in a position where I lack the resources to do the work that you have called me to do. Father, I am so thankful that you give your people the power to fulfill our purpose. In Jesus name, Amen.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
