Daily Prayer_February 22, 2012

The Word of God for wisdom:

Proverbs 10:10 (NLT)
10 People who wink at wrong cause trouble, but a bold reproof promotes peace.

The Word of God for inspiration:

Psalm 39:12 (NLT)
12 Hear my prayer, O LORD! Listen to my cries for help! Don't ignore my tears. For I am your guest— a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me.

The Word of God for encouragement:

Mark 6:1-6 (HCSB)
1
He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him.
2
When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. "Where did this man get these things?" they said. "What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands?
3
Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren't His sisters here with us?" So they were offended by Him.
4
Then Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his household."
5
So He was not able to do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
6 And He was amazed at their unbelief. Now He was going around the villages in a circuit, teaching.

My observation:

This passage from the gospel of Mark provided one of the leaps off the page and into my heart moments of revelation for me.

The son of God was limited in His work because of lack of faith. Many who heard Jesus were astonished. On the other hand, Jesus was amazed at their unbelief. He could have done so much more if they had only believed in Jesus.

Romans 4:20-21 (HCSB)
20
He did not waver in unbelief at God's promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 because he was fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.

My Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I ask for a faith in God that will not falter, fade or fail. Father, strengthen my faith so that I may bring glory to God. Father, grant me the faith that will cause you to be amazed by my faith rather than my unbelief.

20 But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold."
