Daily Prayer_May 5, 2011

The Word for wisdom:

Proverbs 5:1-2 (MSG)
1 Dear friend, pay close attention to this, my wisdom; listen very closely to the way I see it. 2 Then you'll acquire a taste for good sense; what I tell you will keep you out of trouble.

The Word for inspiration:

Psalm 119:107-109 (HCSB)
107 I am severely afflicted; Lord, give me life through Your word. 108 Lord, please accept my willing offerings of praise, and teach me Your judgments. 109 My life is constantly in danger, yet I do not forget Your instruction.

Psalm 119:111-112 (HCSB)
111 I have Your decrees as a heritage forever; indeed, they are the joy of my heart. 112 I am resolved to obey Your statutes to the very end.

The Word for encouragement:

1 Chronicles 15:11-15 (ESV)
11 Then David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab, 12 and said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites. Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it. 13 Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not seek him according to the rule." 14 So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. 15 And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.

My observation:

If I had to choose one word as the message for todays selected reading from God's Word it would be obedience. We can learn a lot from the Old Testament scripture that will encourage us in our daily walk with the Lord today.

Romans 15:4 (ESV)
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Whenever you are tempted to do things your way, think about it. Remember the lesson that David learned about not following the Lord's instructions. Life is so much simpler and so much more joyful when we walk in obedience to the will and way of God in our life.

My prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I pray that you would stir up within me the desire to be an obedient child of God. Father God, when I am tempted to go astray, please draw me back to your side where I can find deliverance, safety, and security from the storms of life. Father, have your way it my life as I let go, and allow you to have your wonderful way in me.
