The Word for wisdom:
Proverbs 3:21-23 (MSG)
21 Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don't for a minute lose sight of them. 22 They'll keep your soul alive and well, they'll keep you fit and attractive. 23 You'll travel safely, you'll neither tire nor trip.
The Word for inspiration:
Psalm 119:105 (MSG)
By your words I can see where I'm going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.
The Word for encouragement:
Romans 1:16-17 (HCSB)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. 17 For in it God's righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.
My observation:
The passage I want to focus on today is one of my favorite passages of scripture. In this letter to the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul reveals his purpose, his passion, and the power of his God.
Romans 1:1 (MSG)
I, Paul, am a devoted slave of Jesus Christ on assignment, authorized as an apostle to proclaim God's words and acts. I write this letter to all the Christians in Rome, God's friends.
One of the choice verses in this letter is verse sixteen. There are three significant things that Paul says about the gospel of Christ. Paul says that the effect of the gospel is salvation, the extent of the gospel worldwide, it is for everyone, and the condition of the gospel is for those who believe.
The gospel is able to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. It is the universal remedy for our universal condition.
Romans 3:23 (HCSB)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
My prayer:
Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful for the power of the gospel because it is able to meet the deepest need in my life. Father, I thank you that the gospel is goodnews for everyone because we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Father, I thank you for providing to everyone the gift of faith that allows us to meet the condition of the gospel, which is to believe on Jesus.
Acts 16:30-32 (HCSB)
30 Then he escorted them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." 32 Then they spoke the message of the Lord to him along with everyone in his house.
Acts 16:34 (HCSB)
He brought them into his house, set a meal before them, and rejoiced because he had believed God with his entire household.
