What Happened to Good Sense?

Text:

Proverbs 13:15 (NLT)

15  A person with good sense is respected; a treacherous person is headed for destruction.

Observation:

This nugget of wisdom is on my mind today. What is good sense? Solomon gives us the answer in the following proverb.

Proverbs 1:2-4 (ESV)

2  To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight,

3  to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

4  to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth—

Life in this world is hard for those with good sense. It is even worse for those who lack good sense.

Proverbs 13:15 (NIV)

15  Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

Are you traveling on the road that leads to favor? If not, you are traveling on the road of a treacherous person, and that road leads to destruction.

Proverbs 4:7 (NLT)

7  Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

Prayer:

Father God, hallowed be Your name. Father, we pray for a rebirth of wisdom and understanding in these difficult and trying times.

Father, Solomon asked for wisdom, and You gave him wisdom and so much more. Father, I pray that many will claim the promise of this good word.

James 1:5 (NLT)

5  If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

--

1 Samuel 3:10 (NLT)
10  And the LORD came and called as before, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel replied, "Speak, your servant is listening."
