Do You Believe That God Is In Control Of The Lives Of His Children?

Text:

Romans 8:28 (NLT)

28  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Observation:

To help me grasp the meaning of our focal verse, I looked at it through the lenses of the following passage.

Romans 8:26-30 (NLT)

26  And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

27  And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.

28  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

29  For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

30  And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

O, how wonderful and comforting is this passage for everyone who identifies themselves as members of the family God.

The sovereign God, who is our Maker is also our caretaker, and He is the keeper of our souls.

God has a purpose for our life, and He is the only one able to make such a promise and keep it. Nothing that happens to us in our life will be able to keep us from fulfilling our God ordained purpose.

Romans 8:37-39 (NLT)

37  No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38  And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.

39  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer:

Father God, hallowed be your name. Father, we bring before You today our deep concern for some of your children who are facing difficult circumstances in their walk with You. Father, we pray that they will receive comfort in knowing that You care and that You are in control. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

1 Samuel 3:10 (NLT)
10  And the LORD came and called as before, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel replied, "Speak, your servant is listening."
