Text:
Psalm 95:1-3 (HCSB)
1 Come, let us shout joyfully to the LORD, shout triumphantly to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout triumphantly to Him in song.
3 For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods.
Observation:
Psalm 47:1-2 (HCSB)
1 Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with a jubilant cry.
2 For Yahweh, the Most High, is awe-inspiring, a great King over all the earth.
Luke 17:15 (HCSB)
15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God.
In the church that I grew up in the pastor would open the worship service with this invocation.
Psalm 95:6 (HCSB)
6 Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
Habakkuk 2:20 (HCSB)
20 But the LORD is in His holy temple; let everyone on earth be silent in His presence.
After a period of silent and corporate prayer, there was a very soft singing of the hymn, "Hear Our Prayer". Then, we had a period of joyful, and loud singing of praise, and thanksgiving that filled the air, and thrilled the soul.
There is a time in worship for shouting, whispering, and silence. The important thing is that our praise and thanksgiving is offered to the Lord. He is worthy of our praise. It should come from our head, and our heart; the seat of our mind, and our emotions.
Psalm 145:3 (KJV)
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
Prayer:
Father God, we acknowledge Your presence, and Your greatness. Lord, there is none like you in earth, or in heaven.
Father, accept our praise and thanksgiving, we pray it will be pleasing in your ears, and eyes. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
