What Do You See?

Text:

Isaiah 32:17 (KJV)

17  And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Observation:

I responded to a Facebook challenge recently by reading two verses. After reading one of the verses; Isaiah 32:17, I saw something else.

My electronic bible had 3 panes open. I looked at the left pane, and I saw 3 verses.

Isaiah 32:1 (KJV)

1  Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.

Isaiah 33:17 (KJV)

17  Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

Isaiah 33:22 (KJV)

22  For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

In these 3 verses I saw 3 things that gripped my heart. I saw the progression in the way Jesus is described.

  1. Jesus described as a king - Isaiah 32.1
  2. Jesus described as the king - Isaiah 33.17
  3. Jesus described as our king - Isaiah 33.22

What we see is determined by what we are looking for. O, the prayer of my heart is that we would all fix our eyes upon Jesus, and that we would see, and call Him, "My King".

Hebrews 12:1-2 (HCSB)

1  Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,

2  keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God's throne.

My Soul Sings:

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace."

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I pray that you would grant to each us the faith that would lead us to fix and keep our eyes upon Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith, and the Redeemer of our lives. In His mighty name we pray, Amen.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
