Text:
Proverbs 16:1-3 (ESV)
1 The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirit.
3 Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.
Observation:
Have you found this verse to be true in your life?
Proverbs 16:1 (NLT)
1 We can make our own plans, but the LORD gives the right answer.
I have heard it phrased this way, "Man proposes, but God disposes".
The Bible speaks to the subject of the prepared heart. Notice what Jesus said to His first century followers, and to us today through the Word.
Matthew 10:19-20 (ESV)
19 When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.
20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
The key to being a follower of Christ is to keep your focus on Your Christ, and not on your circumstances. In this world you will have problems. Therefore, Jesus gives this admonition.
Matthew 10:16 (ESV)
16 "Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
The world will hate you because it hastes the Christ of whom you are a follower.
Matthew 10:24-25 (NLT)
24 "Students are not greater than their teacher, and slaves are not greater than their master.
25 Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, the members of my household will be called by even worse names!
Prayer:
Father, we ask You to lead and guide us in preparing our hearts to be used by You for Your purposes, and Your plans for our life. Lord, we ask that when we open our mouths that Your words would flow from our hearts. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
"Speak to my heart oh speak to my heart
Speak to my heart I pray
Yielded and still seeking Thy will
Oh speak to my heart today".

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
