Text:
1 Samuel 3:9-10 (ESV)
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant hears.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the LORD came and stood, calling as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant hears."
Observation:
Does God still people to His people today? Yes, He does, and He speaks through His Word, and by the Holy Spirit. There is nothing more powerful, and more purposeful then listening to the Word of God.
Psalm 119:11 (ESV)
11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Do you know Your God given, and tailored made purpose for your life; the reason why you are still alive?
The story of the life of Samuel is the life of a person who has been called by God for a special, and unique purpose.
God has a purpose for your life, and you can discover that purpose as you read God's Word, and do what He tells you to do.
God wants to make you holy; not happy. Are you ready to listen and obey? Hear the Word of the Lord as He speaks into your heart.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 (NLT)
3 God's will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.
4 Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—
5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.
God is more interested in who you are than is what you do. He wants you to be holy, and happiness will follow. True happiness is being more and more like Jesus.
The hymn writer says it this way.
"When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey,
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey."
Prayer:
Father, thank You for all that You have done in us, and for us. Father, where would we be without You in our lives? Father, help us to love you more dearly, trust you more completely, and serve You more faithfully. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
