Text:
Mark 4:24-25 (ESV)
24 And he said to them, "Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.
25 For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away."
Observation:
Jesus says in this discourse the hearer has responsibility for what we hear, and how we use what we hear. Notice what else the bible says about this important matter of how we handle the Word.
2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Acts 17:11 (ESV)
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Acts 17:26-27 (HCSB)
26 From one man He has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live.
27 [He did this] so they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.
God has done, and continues to do His part. He has given us His Word to speak to us, and the Holy Spirit to be our teacher and tutor.
1 John 2:26-27 (HCSB)
26 I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.
27 The anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you don't need anyone to teach you. Instead, His anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie; just as He has taught you, remain in Him.
Mark 4:23 (ESV)
23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, I am so grateful that You have given us the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit to help and guide us to the way, the truth, and the eternal life You provide to all who receive Jesus.
Psalm 119:130 (AMP)
130 The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.
Father, I ask that You would lead and guide Your people, and I pray that each of us would surrender to Your will and Your way. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
