Have You Discovered the Joy of Giving?

Text:

Psalm 29:1-2 (KJV)

1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

2  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Observation:

What motivates you to do what you do each day of your life? What do you know, and who do you believe in?

In our focal passage today I am focused on the word give. David is focused on giving praise to God before the storm.  Don't wait until the storms of life result in destruction, and death before you listen to the voice of the LORD.

Psalm 29:3-4 (KJV)

3  The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.

4  The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The storms you may be facing in your life may have a power that overwhelms you; it may be like the storms that rolled over the Mediterranean Sea. Notice that the storm is called, "The voice of the LORD".

Notice the response of the angels in heaven, and the people upon the earth when they heard the voice of God in the storm.

Psalm 29:9 (NLT)

9  The voice of the LORD twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, "Glory!"

Are you willing to humble yourself before the mighty throne of God, and ascribe to Him the glory that is due to His most holy, and righteous name?

The Lord is waiting to give you His strength and peace. Are you ready to receive it? Why not give Him honor and glory before the storm? In exchange, He will give you His strength and peace.

Psalm 29:11 (KJV)

11  The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Prayer:

Father God, we give You all the honor, glory, and praise that You alone deserve. Father, we receive, with humble and grateful hearts, Your strength and peace. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
